Veil

By Artist: Flolux

Veil is an immersive laser and sound installation in the courtyard of Lancaster Castle. It brings to life the voices, songs and stories of Lancashire—celebrating its people and history from both past and present. Snippets of voice and melody accompany the laser light, weaving together a magical sound and light experience.

The show is time-coded to create a fluid visual journey, a light landscape in continuous movement; as the laser beams merge, pulse and breathe, the sound follows, immersing the viewer in a horizon of poetic light tones. Veil is an intuitive multisensory work with no understanding needed and can be enjoyed by any age. Come along and immerse yourself in this enchanting space where past and present meet.

The soundscape features excerpts from Lancashire poet Ethel Holdsworth (read by Georgie Brook), oral histories from The Elizabeth Roberts Working Class Oral History Archive, folk singer Brian Osborne and Jennifer Reid, who performs 19th century Lancashire dialect and ballads.

Uses Liberation Laser Software.
