In a dark city corner, life begins to burst through the cracks. Weeds and wildflowers scale the walls, their stems weaving the history and folklore of local flora together with an abundant display of the beauty of untamed plant life. This hand made stop-motion animation lets loose a feral bouquet of living organisms finding their way through brick and concrete to reclaim urban space.
Journeying through the seasons, Urban Wyld reveals plants that can be found in British towns, celebrating the rich diversity of nature all around us. Part non-human ritual, part re-wilding spell, part childhood potion, Urban Wyld celebrates the role of common plants in our lives, and gleefully considers plant life beyond humans – when we no longer inhabit man made environments, nature finds a way of creeping back in.
