Jukebike – Find out more
JukeBuke
By Dan Fox and the team at Sound Intervention.
A new commission by Mirador Arts for Light Up Lancaster.
This battery powered mobile light and sound system takes its design cues from the classic jukeboxes of the 1950’s and 60’s. Polished aluminium, angled case and the iconic curved Wiurlitzer. It is part of Mirador’s project Jukebox: A Teenage Revolution
Under the is some very cutting edge technology: AI controlled sound responsive pixel mapped lighting, wireless DMX, digital projection, a heavyweight sound system powered by 12 Volt amplifiers and a massive Lithium iron phosphate battery. All mounted on an electric tricycle for a fully mobile sound and light experience.
Sound Intervention have been designing and building mobile sound systems for over 10 years. The Projector Bikes were commissioned twice before at Light Up Lancaster, in 2016 with a processional ecological fable called On The Edge Of A Rising Tide and in 2021 with Gateway, a mobile story of a migrant girl’s journey.
Sound Intervention, based in Ulverston, create light and sound installations and soundscapes for light festivals and illuminated trails all over the country. This year for the first time the team are creating Winter At Sizergh with the National Trust near Kendal.
