Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty commissioned artists Shane Johnstone and Anna Read and poet Sarah Hymas to work with Archbishop Hutton’s School in Warton and Ryelands School in Lancaster. The children visited picturesque Warton Crag and invited older local residents into their schools to learn about the birds we see in the outstanding landscape near Lancaster and how this has changed over the years. Together the artists and children created stunning large scale bird lanterns and poetry reflecting their thoughts about birds, how it might feel to travel so far, and what home means, both to the birds and to the children.
